Our Leisure Time Agent, Karin, visited Valkenburg in December. An unforgettable experience that she's excited to share with you in this blog!
When you think of the Christmas atmosphere, you think of Valkenburg. This charming town in Limburg transforms into a true Christmas setting during the month of December. The center of Valkenburg is already a cozy place on its own. Although it was busy during our stay, it was particularly lively due to the decorated streets and bustling terraces, where you could comfortably sit outside under the heat lamps. You can also enjoy delicious meals in the many cozy restaurants.
During our mini-vacation, we visited the Christmas market in the Velvet Cave, which was a lot of fun. There is also a Christmas market in the Municipal Cave. A visit to one of the underground Christmas markets is, in my opinion, a must for everyone!
On Saturday evening, there was a festive Christmas parade, which is a fun experience. The parade winds through the streets of Valkenburg with illuminated floats, festive music, and cheerful people in the Christmas spirit.
Finally, we went to the Christmas market at the Wilhelmina Tower. Here, you can also take the chairlift up to the tower and, when the weather allows it, slide down on a toboggan. The latter is especially fun if you're staying in Valkenburg with kids!
And if you've explored charming Valkenburg enough, it's also recommended to pay a visit to Maastricht. Here too, you can enjoy a delightful Christmas atmosphere!
All in all, the atmospheric South Limburg is a top destination for a stay around the Holidays!
