13 km to the south from Nurmes, lake Pielinen 30 m (871,2 km², length 100 km, width 20 km), child-friendly dredged and sanded beach, pier, own boat, deeper point in the end of the pier.NOTE: From the end of summer/autumn of 2025, the water level in Lake Pielinen will be exceptionally low, and therefore not suitable for boating or other recreational use.
